ICT and Related Sectors Digital Skills Training Project

Project No. 2.3.1.2.i.0/2/23/A/CFLA/001

The well-known Latvian brand “Visma” creates an innovative tool for businesses

One of the Latvian representatives of the “Visma” brand, Visma Enterprise, has already developed the widely known resource management system “Visma Horizon.” This digital tool allows companies to calculate salaries and is used by approximately 40% of Latvian businesses. Its accounting software automates data entry and reduces the risk of human error. The brand’s IT product portfolio also includes other solutions, such as the HoP employee self-service portal, HR management and business intelligence tools, as well as other IT solutions and system integrations.

In today’s business environment, IT and various digital solutions significantly improve company efficiency and competitiveness, as noted by experts across multiple industries. Laura Brīvība-Dzenuška, a representative of Visma Enterprise, states:

“Although Latvia has achieved a very high level of digitalization at the public administration level, there is still much work to be done in the business environment. Manual processes, intuition-based decisions, and underutilized technologies often hinder company growth. That is why Visma solutions are designed to help businesses improve efficiency and strengthen competitiveness both locally and globally. Moreover, these solutions are created specifically for the Latvian market and its needs, which adds extra value.”

In addition to the already known products, the company now offers a new innovative solution — the shift scheduling tool “Numo”, aimed at facilitating work schedule planning for companies operating on shifts or non-standard hours. This tool not only complies with current legal requirements but can also adapt to the specific needs of a company and employee preferences, automating complex scheduling processes. “Numo” is already available to clients, and the company continues to actively develop it to make it suitable for the specific needs of various industries.

SIA “CUNAMI WEB”

Digitalization of company processes is an opportunity to work with quality, efficiency, and purpose

What is the experience and specialization of the company “CUNAMI WEB”?

Our company, CUNAMI WEB, specializes in the IT sector by helping businesses digitalize, develop in the digital environment, and automate outdated or manual processes, so that daily work becomes smoother, more meaningful, and requires less manual effort.

Why is continuous learning important for IT companies?

Continuous learning is always important! The IT industry grows very rapidly and is highly dynamic, so it is essential to keep pace. Updating our knowledge allows us to make competent and correct decisions. Without this, relying on outdated knowledge could lead to decisions that are either irrelevant at best or potentially harmful at worst. Learning helps us stay focused and make the right decisions in daily work.

Which competencies are most important at the management level in the industry?

Making correct daily decisions requires a broad spectrum of competencies. Managers need the ability to oversee operations, guide the right strategies, make decisions, give accurate advice, and detect problems or errors in projects or company processes. IT processes move rapidly and dynamically, and managers must be able to monitor and control these processes effectively.

How are IT solutions implemented in the industry, and what benefits do they provide to companies?

Information technologies are implemented quickly in modern companies. At the management level, people see manual processes and recognize opportunities to improve daily work using technology, making it more efficient, faster, and meaningful. We focus heavily on technology implementation because, without it, quality work is impossible. Imagine a day without a computer or internet — it would be like being handcuffed. Similarly, companies rely on tools like client or task management systems, which are the lifeblood of operations.

The most widely implemented IT solutions are aimed at increasing company profitability and improving related processes. Companies are generally open to streamlining operations, automating client management, and improving processes like invoicing, which all contribute to greater efficiency.

What is your vision for the future of the industry?

My vision is very optimistic. The digitalization efforts in Latvia and Europe, supported by significant assistance, have triggered strong growth. Many companies are currently digitalizing, seeking digital partners, and implementing digital projects, which drives both the IT market and company development in the digital environment. I believe this trend will continue. During COVID-19, we proved that effective work and profit generation are possible in the digital environment. Available state support further stimulates this trend, ensuring ongoing development in the future.

Maya Slavova, in her material “EPALE Resource Kit 2024: Building digital, green, and inclusive futures”, explains:

*”The skills needed for success will be determined by rapid technological progress, changes in societal norms, and shifts in the global workforce. While technical skills such as AI literacy and cybersecurity awareness are important, equally crucial are skills like emotional intelligence, adaptability, and intercultural competence.

To thrive in this evolving world, a commitment to lifelong learning is essential. The future belongs to those who are not only skilled but also flexible, empathetic, and able to collaborate in diverse environments. By focusing on these core skills, you will be well-equipped to navigate the exciting and unpredictable challenges of today and the coming years.”*
