What are cookies?

Small temporary text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device to ensure the proper functioning of a website and that contain information about the websites you have visited. Cookies make it easier for the user to use the Internet, for example, when logging into their user profile on a website, the browser predicts the user’s name, but cookies are also used for other purposes, for example, website owners gain more information about the interests of their website visitors.

How do we use cookies?

The Latvian Computer Manufacturers Association (LDRA) uses Google Analytics services, making information about services available on the search engine, the aforementioned service provides for the storage of cookies on your device. The cookie stores information about the fact that we visited our website, when it happened, remembers the user’s IP address, which sections of the website were viewed, this information is transferred to Google Inc. (Ireland) and stored for 60 days on Google servers (in the European Union and the USA). Before transferring data to Google, IP addresses are anonymized, replacing them with a specific code that is assigned to each individual user. Google, for its part, confirms that the data processing, including the transfer of data to third parties, complies with the requirements of European Union and US regulatory acts, and also separately notes that the data received is not used to provide Google services. You can prevent the transfer of cookies to Google by using the “Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on” plugin (see Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on).

How to control cookies?

You have the option to delete cookies from your computer or other device, as well as use the settings offered by most browsers that prevent the creation of cookies.

Virtually all browsers provide the ability to:

View and delete saved cookies; Prevent third-party cookies from being set; Prevent marketing sites from being set; Block all cookies from being set; Delete all cookies when you exit the browser. It is important to remember that deleting all cookies will also delete your settings on individual websites. In addition, it is necessary to take into account that if you block all cookies from being set, many websites (including ours) may start to function incorrectly and the service may be interrupted, for this reason we do not recommend choosing the option to block all cookies.
